GRAND RAPIDS—
Families, waiting for justice, their loved ones killed in unsolved acts of violence, are getting help from a film maker with a history of helping solve cold cases.
Carolyn Priester's son, Lee Priester, was gunned down July 28, 2007, in front of a friend's house on Lafayette near Hall, on Grand Rapids southeast side. She started a support group called "The Conquerors." With Silent Observer and Delayed Justice, the three teamed up to make a series of Public Service Announcements.
The PSA's were done by Dr. David Schock of Delayed Justice.com; the same man who helped produce the documentary 'Who Killed Janet Chandler?" Three months after the project started, police launched a cold case team to take another look at the murder, leading to arrests and convictions.
Other cases that will appear in the PSA's: Sherry Stewart Brown, who disappeared in 1996. Willie Benson, shot to death in July 2005 at Godwin and Dickinson in Grand Rapids Renee Pagel, stabbed to death in her house in Northern Kent County in August 2006 Chad McElwee, shot at the intersection of Cass and Sycamore in Grand Rapids in May 2008 Richard Dannah, shot in May 2008, in the 400-block of Adams in Grand Rapids
The PSA's were released during a news conference this afternoon at the Grand Rapids Police Department. We'll have a peek at them on FOX 17 News.
