Edwin Lario-Munoz fought to get a retrial for a 2005 murder conviction, but now, his second conviction for the case landed him with a longer sentence.Lario-Munoz was convicted a second time for second-degree murder of a pregnant woman last month. Jurors found him guilty of killing Silvia Sanchez-Parada at a Grand Rapids southeast side home she and her husband shared with Lario-Munoz in October 2005.
Lario-Munoz got a new trial because the appeals court ruled hearsay evidence was given at his first trial, in which he was sentenced to 23-to-80 years in prison. This time, he was sentenced to 35-to-90 years in prison.
