Muskegon Teen Is Homicide Victim
MUSKEGON - The Muskegon Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager early Saturday.

According to Capt. Mark Lewis, at 6:55 a.m. police responded to a report of an assault at a house in the 500 block of Orchard Avenue. Upon arriving they found Andrea Charvelle Parnell, 19, of Muskegon unresponsive. She was transported to a Muskegon hospital where it was discovered that she was the victim of a gunshot wound.

Parnell was pronounced dead at 9:48 a.m. An autopsy has been scheduled for early next week.

Lewis referred to Parnell's death as a "homicide."

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting, are seeking additional witnesses and are gathering more evidence. The Muskegon County Prosecutor's Office has been called into the case for assistance.
