MUSKEGON -
Robert Johnson who pleaded guilty in the shooting death of a Muskegon realtor Troy VanderStelt, was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Monday .
Johnson, 73, of Norton Shores, entered a last-minute plea of guilty on in October in the killing of Troy VanderStelt, 33, in July 2008. Johnson was accused of walking into Vanderselt's officein the Roosevelt Park area of Muskegon and shooting him in the head. The plea was entered before the case could go to trial.
Johnson was a client of the victim at one time.
In September, Johnson settled a wrongful death suit with VanderStelt's family and agreed to pay $225,000 plus proceeds from the sale of his house and more money from his pension. VanderStelt's lawyer accused a Johnson family member of withdrawing cash from the suspects account after the murder.
