Meijer announced Thursday the recall of fresh hamburger and fresh ground beef sold in its stores in Michigan and four other states.
In Michigan, the chain is recalling fresh hamburger with "sell-by" dates of April 26 to June 19, 2009, and a UPC number that begins with the numbers 201655.
In Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky, fresh ground beef is recalled if it has a "sell-by" date between April 26 and June 19, 2009, and a UPC number that begins 201668.
All the products display "freeze/use by" dates of April 27 to June 19, 2009.
The products come from the JBS Swift Company, which has been confirmed as a source of beef products contaminated with E. coli, according to a release. A similar recalle of Swift beef was issued in April.
The same release noted that none of the Meijer products have been identified as contaminated.
Recalled products should be destroyed or returned to any Meijer location for a refund.
