KIDS TO RIDE FREE IN LATEST LAKE EXPRESS PROMOTION

MUSKEGON -
When business slumps, businesses offer more.

That's the idea behind the latest promotion at the Lake Express high-speed ferry out of Muskegon.

Until July 1, kids under 18 ride free on the ferry's route from Muskegon to Milwaukee. That would save $115 for a family of four just one way.

The president of the Lake Express says he doesn't want the economy to keep families from traveling.

By comparison, the ferry's chief competitor, the S.S. Badger out of Ludington, charges $49 for a child's round-trip ticket.

John Nelski, who owns a five-acre hatchery in Muskegon Township, says start-up costs are very expensive.
