NEW BALTIMORE, MI—
A man from Hastings is being held in a metro Detroit jail, charged with trying to meet a 12 year old male for sex.Last week, the New Baltimore Police Department's Internet Crimes Unit says it found John Paul Ward, 41 years old, on an internet chat messaging website with what he thought was a 12 year old male. Instead, it was an undercover investigator.
Police say Ward is charged on several felony charges, including child sexually abusive activity, communicating via internet to commit a crime, accosting a child for immoral purposes, and distributing child sexually abusive material. He's being held on $200,000 bond in the Macomb County Jail.
Hastings Police Department., The Internet Crimes Against Children's Regional Task Force, Michigan State Police, New Baltimore Police, East Lansing Police, Livingston County Sheriff's office, and Ingham County Sheriff's Office assisted each other on the investigation.
