LOWELL - The body of Sgt. Lucas Beachnaw has returned to West Michigan through the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

The plane was met Thursday morning at the airport by an honor guard, and the flag-draped casket was taken by motorcade processional to a funeral home in Lowell.

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Lowell Thursday morning to pay their respects. Many came brandished American flags and signs. It was an emotional day for many people, even those didn't know Beachnaw.

A private visitation was held Thursday afternoon and evening. The funeral was scheduled at Ada Bible Church for Friday and then a private burial service.
