PIERSON —
Passing motorists thought it was a crime scene, but it was just a reenactment of the discovery of a murder victim's body along US-131.

The area near the Pierson exit of US-131 looked like the scene of a major crime, with a large van and several cruisers. A passing motorist called in a report of police covering up a body.

It was all for a show.

Kent County Sheriff's deputies assisted a crew from Story House Productions, a company that produces documentaries for cable channels, many of them about crimes and investigations. The company was filming reenactments of the investigation into the murder of Julia Dawson, whose body was found along US-131 in 2004.

Dawson's husband, Timothy, was convicted of murder in 2008.

A story on the case aired on NBC's "Dateline" earlier this year.
