KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo gay ordinance has been the topic of countless debates for almost a year, but now the issue will rest in the hands of voters on the November 3 ballot.

The ordinance protects members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community from being descriminated against for housing, employment or public accommodation.

A press conference lead by those in favor of the ordinance is being held today at 1 p.m. at the Douglass Community Center at 1000 W. Paterson in Kalamazoo.

Speakers include leaders from the Douglass Community Association, League of Women Voters, the president of the NAACP of Kalamazoo, and the pastor of First Baptist Church.
