HOLLAND - It was 9 months ago that Ken Kragt, co-owner of the family owned restaurant Jackie's Place in Holland, got a call that his business was in flames.

Police say it was arson, but they have yet to arrest a suspect in the case.

The business, along with the apartment Kragt and his wife lived in, was a complete loss. "It was a total feeling of hopelessness and helplessness," Kragt said.

But with the support of family, friends, and community members, Kragt decided to rebuild.

"We're going to try to be just like we were in the past, hopefully even better," Kragt said.

The new restaurant was built in the same place on W. 17th St. in Holland. The building is also about the same size with a similar layout.

Owners did however add a new security and sprinkler system so nothing like what happened before will happen again. They also upgraded the kitchen and appliances.

Jackie's Place will officially open on Tuesday November 24, but there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Monday night at 6:30.
