We report on the problem just about every week, school districts are cutting programs, teachers and staff because they're out of money.

But as many public school workers are getting cut, many of the ones who still have jobs receive far better health care benefits than most private companies. But that could soon change.

Some watchdog groups are calling for districts and unions to cut out some of the lucrative benefits and to start paying more. Some teachers say, they're up to the challenge.

FOX 17's Dan Krauth has more in an in-depth report, where we'll hear from union members, superintendents, teachers and a tax watchgroup on the issue. Click on the viewer above to watch the story.

It all comes at a time when many contracts for school districts across West Michigan expire this summer.
