GRAND RAPIDS -
Grand Rapids High School students are getting a "hands-on" education when it comes to health science. The district celebrated the new School of Health, Science and Technology tonight.
It's on the campus of Central High School; one of four "Centers of Innovation" High Schools. "We take medical classes so that's getting us ready for college and medical school," student Josephia Belcher told FOX 17 News. "Doing the things we have to do with sciences, like taking biology and science and technology classes."
Spectrum Health pledged nearly half a million dollars to the school. Spectrum Health President Matt Van Vranken said, "It keeps kids inspired and it also helps us as the largest employer in West Michigan. We are going to need a prepared workforce and these kids, I think, represent the future of health care."
