MECOSTA COUNTY -
Four people were injured in a crash caused by a Beaverton man running a stop sign Sunday morning.
According to the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a two-car personal-injury accident at 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of Jackson Road and 30th Avenue. Their investigation showed that Lawrence Priest of Beaverton was traveling westbound on Jackson when he disregarded a stop sign at 30th Avenue and struck a vehicle traveling northbound on 30th Avenue.
That vehicle overturned on the roadway and three passengers who were not wearing seat belts were thrown from it. Deputies said Mecosta EMS transported a total of four passengers in that vehicle to Central Michigan Medical Center with injuries.
Millbrook Fire Rescue joined Mecosta EMS in assisting the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office at the scene.
