MONROE -
The U.S. Coast Guard says four fishermen whose boat capsized in western Lake Erie on Thursday have been found safe.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Brandon Blackwell says Monroe County marine deputies spotted the men about 5:45 p.m. today offshore from Middle Island, about 35 miles southeast of Detroit. Blackwell says they were holding on to their capsized 19-foot boat, which had left Sterling State Park in Monroe at 8 a.m. Thursday.
The men, who are all between 52 and 76, are receiving medical attention this evening.
The men had been expected back at the boat launch about 4 p.m. Thursday. A family member notified the Coast Guard when the men hadn't returned by 10 p.m.
