ALLEGAN COUNTY -
A gruesome discovery has put one neighborhood near the lakeshore on edge. Police say they found a burned out car and a burned body nearby.
It happened on the 400 block of 74th street in Casco Township in Allegan County; that's just a few miles north of South Haven. The burned out car was first noticed by the owner of the property Saturday morning, while he was jogging. A call to police 90 minutes later turned up something this quiet neighborhood wasn't expecting. "Everyone's really upset, something like I said, doesn't happen in a community like South Haven here and so quiet the neighborhood's made up of people who live here year round and some summer homes too," said neighbor, Fred Kick. The car has been taken to Lansing for a thorough investigation. Burnt metal and pieces of tires left among the scorched earth. Kick believes this wasn't an accident. "That's what's kind of unnerving, someone must have been shopping is what it looks like because it's not the normal neighborhood that you come unless you live here or were coming to visit the maybe the rv park down the street," said Kick. The Allegan County Sheriff's Department is calling it a "Death Investigation." They're looking for anyone who may have information about what happened. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow to determine the identity of the body and the cause of death.
