Cyclist Seriously Hurt After Hitting Semi In Van Buren County
A 51-year-old Paw Paw man is hospitalized in serious condition after his motorcycle slammed into a semi Saturday evening.

According to Van Buren County Sheriff Dale R. Gribler, Van Buren Central Dispatch received multiple 911 calls at approximately 5:55 p.m. Saturday reporting a motorcycle-truck personal injury accident on Interstate 94 at the Lawrence exit (County Road 365) in Lawrence Township.

Deputies' investigation determined that David Smith of Paw Paw was riding a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and attempted to exit the ramp onto eastbound I-94 at the Lawrence exit when he ran into the side of an eastbound semi driven by Melton Crudup, 50, of Ypsilanti.

Crudup was not injured. Smith was thrown from the motorcycle and was transported to Bronson Hospital where he is listed in serious condition with broken bones and other internal injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
