COVERT -
Four people are under arrest, accused of brutally beating, kidnapping and murdering a woman nearly 12 years ago in Van Buren County.
Deborah Boothby of Covert Township was killed in April 1998 in Van Buren County. Michigan State Police say she was beaten and kidnapped in Covert Township, then the suspects drove her to another location, where she was beaten again. Police say she was dumped on Blue Star Highway, where she was run over twice, in an attempt to make it look like she was the victim of a hit and run accident. Boothby died shortly after rescue crews arrived on the scene.
The Michigan Attorney General's Office says Ivory Shaver and Shevolier Gill, both of South Haven, were arrested and arraigned today in South Haven District Court. Ivory Shaver's nephew, Scottie Shaver, 33, also of South Haven was arrested this afternoon. Ed Foster, 40, of Conyers, Georgia, was arrested in Indiana and is awaiting extradition. All four are charged with Premeditated Murder and First-Degree Felony Murder. They face life in prison if convicted.
