VAN BUREN COUNTY - Erin Brockovich is an environmental activist known around the world for getting results, and tonight her legal team was in Paw Paw to help people living in Van Buren County who have contaminated groundwater.

Her legal team met with about 100 homeowners in Paw Paw Township tonight to let them know they will be filing suit against Coca-Cola.

The soft drink maker has a plant located just west of the homes being impacted by the contaminated groundwater. The Department of Environmental Quality says it found Iron, Arsenic, and Lead in the groundwater.

Bill Stapleton, an attorney for Brockovich's legal team, says Erin is often contacted about cases like this.

"She frequently is the first contact in case like this because people have heard of her and they visit her website and they make inquiries and so she has a great deal of influence," said Stapleton.

A spokesperson for Coca-Cola says the company is working with the DEQ in the situation.

Brockovich's legal team will also be in Fennville tomorrow, where residents are concerned about possible contamination near the Birds Eye plant in that area.

Erin Brockovich herself was not able to make the trip because of a bad case of strep throat.
