Bank Robbery On Alpine: Suspect Turns Himself In
ALPINE TOWNSHIP - Shortly after a robbery at the Chase Bank on Alpine Avenue NW on Wednesday, a man called police to say that he did it.

The robbery occurred shortly after 11 a.m. at the bank branch at 4366 Alpine Avenue NW in Alpine Township, The robber had a gun in his belt and passed a note demanding money.

Police responded quickly, but the man fled on foot and was not apprehended. While officers searched the area and waited for a canine unit, dispatchers received a call at the Kent County Sheriff's Office Communication Center around 12:10 p.m. The caller identified himself as a 40-year-old Comstock Park man and offered to turn himself in. Dispatchers were heard telling on-scene officers that the caller insisted the gun was a toy and he had no weapons.

A release from the Kent County Sheriff's office said the man will be identified after the man is charged.

The FBI is involved in the investigation with Kent County Sheriff's investigators.
