GRAND RAPIDS - The biggest school district in the area is teaming up with the biggest company in the area.

Amway and the Grand Rapids Public Schools are vowing to produce the next generation of business leaders.

It's a public-private partnership to form another "Center of Innovation." It's a specialized curriculum, called the School of Business, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship.

The groups signed the partnership Monday at Grand Valley State Downtown. The Seidman School of Business is also involved.

The program started this year with 30 9th graders at Ottawa Hills High School and they'll add students every year through 12th grade.

Students will focus on subjects like business management and leadership.

They say they want to show how big ideas can turn a local company into a global powerhouse.

"To start exposing students to the right class work," said Amway Marketing Chief Candace Matthews. "To internships and to mentors that will help them become business leaders of the future."

This is one of Grand Rapids' four Centers of Innovation. They include the schools of Science and Health, Design and Construction, the University Prep Academy, and now Business and Leadership.
