Long term studies have found that youth participating in mentoring relationships were 50% more likely to have fewer absences from school; more likely to attend college; placed a higher value on school; up to 70% less likely to initiate drug use; and had more positive attitudes toward the future, the elderly and toward helping in general and felt they trusted their parents more and communicated better with them.
There are over 2000 kids waiting for mentors in more than 30 different mentoring organizations in Kent County alone. Our current campaign, 2000 men for 2010 is to recruit men to make a one year commitment to mentor at-risk youths.
